Oakland Campus

Architect Henry Hornbostel is Oakland Campus
largely responsible for the University of Pittsburgh campus masterpiece in Oakland. Of the five original structures, only Thaw Hall, home of Architectural Studies Design Studio, survives today. The Architectural Studies Program is committeed to creating a database with news articles and other important documents illustrating Hornbostel's achievement.

With Pitt recently celebrating 100 years in Oakland, this particular endeavor is very timely. Students who want to work with the Oakland Campus project should consider doing so as part of a First Experiences in Research opportunity and may contact Prof. Drew Armstrong for details.
