Waldorf School
Documentation + Conservation

The Waldorf School (formerly the Lynch House) in Pittsburgh's Friendship neighborhood is a historic landmark built around 1867. Today, the former mansion serves as the focus of HAA 1921 Documentation + Conservation Studio, a course that provides students with an intensive foundation in the proper techniques of working within the field of architectural conservation. Students complete field-work, culminating in the development of a preservation plan for the site that will be formally presented at the end of the semester to stakeholders, neighborhood groups and preservation specialists.
Recently, the Waldorf School project has been highlighted in the local press. (Read articles from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the Pitt Chronicle.) Architectural Studies looks forward to continuing this project, and possibly expanding it to include other historic Pittsburgh preservation sites.
