Sara Pettit

  • Summer Program Coordinator

Sara Pettit is a practicing architect with over a decade of professional experience focusing on institutional, federal, and higher education projects and existing building renewal. Her path has inspired her to seek out ways to engage outside of the confines of professional practice to pursue other passions, one of which is the mentorship and engagement of youth in design.

Sara believes deeply that the profession of architecture is best when it is diverse and inclusive. Since 2009, Sara has volunteered through the nationally recognized ACE (Architecture Construction and Engineering) Program and worked with a broad range of students from urban New Haven and Philadelphia. She has also been on the recruitment, communication, and development side at ACE, establishing connections at high schools for student recruitment, as well as in professional circles for fundraising, mentor engagement, and program growth. Alongside other partners, she focused on building a coalition of school advocates, industry supporters, community institutions, and students. She is excited to lead the new Summer High School summer studio in the Pitt Architectural Studies Program, broadening opportunities for equitable access and understanding of architectural education and practice for all students.

Sara holds a Bachelors of Architecture degree from the Pennsylvania State University, and is a Pittsburgh native.
